All You Need To Know Start Tying Flies | Fly Tying Videos | Fly Patterns | How to Tie Flies
Includes 7 Classic Patterns
CHAPTERS
“FLY TYING FUNDAMENTALS with Davy Wotton” is a definitive video on how to start tying flies. Davy Wotton applies his exacting technique to a series of detailed lessons and tying demonstrations that give the budding fly tier a solid foundation in the skill. His precise instructions are matched with practical lessons he has created just for beginners.
Working with thread, dubbing techniques, winding ribs and hackle, and properly finishing a fly are but a few of the fly tying skills that can be learned. Davy builds the tiers knowledge throughout the video, and mixes lessons on tying techniques with tying demonstrations. By the time the beginner is finished with the video they will be able to tie all seven of the classic patterns featured.
Davy Wotton knows a lot about flies. For over 40 years he has tied, designed, and sold flies and fly tying materials. In addition he knows how to fish; spending half his days on the water as a guide and instructor on the White River in Arkansas. Davy grew up in Wales in the British Isles where fly tying was born and brings a depth of knowledge to the craft few others possess.

You will learn techniques that will greatly enhance and allow you to tie much better flies regardless of how long you've been tying flies.
This is a must own DVD. Excellent!

Despite any level of experience tying flies, anyone will greatly benefit by closely watching the tips and techniques offered by Davy Wotton. He is a person that can be called a great teacher because learning, by definition is the transfer of knowledge. That is a rare & wonderful skill!
I found that I had missed several useful fundamentals and picked up numerous great techniques to make tying easier and better! I would like to thank Gene and his entire staff for producing this video as well as Davy for hosting his methods. This was time definitely well spent!
A trip to Northern Arkansas is on my "bucket list" to book a day of fishing with Davy.... after I glean what I can from his videos so as not to be too far behind the learning curve.

I enjoyed Davey's discussion and demonstration on the tying of the flies, but I wish he would give more information on the hooks. It would be helpful to know the length and weight of hook he recommends, e.g. 2x, 3x long, heavy, etc. As always, his "little" hints on how to perform a specific step are what makes his DVD's special.
I also prefer seeing the fly recipe before the fly, but that's a minor point.
